Rudy on his Writing

So I'm wrapping up the pitch and final details on "Train Me, Gamble." Wow... What a ride. It's hard to imagine that I came up with this idea over late last summer. From initial concept to story spine to character design to pencils to a fully lettered version going to an Editor soon.

I'm a bit nervous, but already hard at work ironing out the final details of my next big script. The new one is 5 issues vs. the 3 that "Gamble" is. It's bigger in scope with a more detailed and wilder plot. I'm pumped, but deep down always a bit nervous. Is this complicated enough? Will people like it? Is it marketable? What if every Editor thinks it's crap? etc. etc.

Lucky for me, most of those thoughts tend to creep in at this stage and NOT during the writing process. If I don't believe I'm writing the next greatest piece of comic fiction during scripting I won't have the confidence to finish. I just won't. After is when I usually decide if it's any good and whether or not I should hire an artist. Since I am fully producing these out of my own pocket, I have to consider all the variables.

Overall, I'm excited about this and the next comic I'm producing. (Not telling the title for a while, although all 5 issues have been written! Yay!) Wish me luck on pitching "Train Me, Gamble," or else you get:

People should know better then to screw with ANYONE who owns a Mogwai..let alone an armed one. Thank goodness we're related and thank the heavens I was wise enough to watch Gremlins at a young age, other wise I wouldn't have the proper Mogwai knowledge today. Good luck brother!
